Tips for Tourists in a super low budget while in Cebu

Some of you are already interested to visit Cebu and that's why you came across this blog. I'm always on the road on two wheels, I have a closer insights how to go around Cebu. If you like to maximize your experience in a low budget, you may able to get some information here.

We are aiming for low budget adventure I will also include tips and safety to prevent problems while you're here in Cebu. This tip post is only good for 2 up to 6 people to tolerate this kind of adventure.

Patience is the key
Truth be told, traffic is bad in Cebu nowadays. If you plan on commuting to get to the nice spots, try to avoid the rush hours. Always allocate  30 to 40 Minutes of travel time, that's for the normal traffic flow alone.

Bring coins and small bills
Most transportation are not expensive. Public utility Jeepney (PUJ) you can go with 10 or 15 PHP per person but it depends on the chosen route.
Long distances like buses can go with 100 to 250 PHP per person.

Karenderia
It's simply a localized version of Cafeteria or Restaurant. If you're not picky about the looks of the place, you'll be surprised of the nice food you haven't tasted before.  Ranging from  20 PHP up to 100 PHP you can enjoy a full delicious meal.

Meals you find in malls, fast food chains, and respectable restaurants are ranging 125 to 500 PHP. There are many recommended restaurants around the city but I'll create another post for it. Right now, our primary topic here are the budget stuff.

Don't wear thick and fancy clothing
We are in a tropical island (closer to the equator) you don't want to fry yourself like a fried chicken. Don't bring your leather jackets because it's only good if you're up to motorcycle touring.

Footwear and walking around

Along with not wearing fancy clothing, and simple footwear will do. Cebu's weather change very fast. Sunny now, it might be raining 2 hours later. Wearing a rubber shoes or fancy foot wear then frustrations is inevitable.

If you are on a formal attire, business meetings, or events: you don't have to worry about it. There are many ways to get around Cebu.

Communications / Data
It's very understandable most of us like hang on with our mobile devices. Communications really depends on what you need and here are my recommendations on scenarios.

* If you are heavy on text and calling, I recommend getting a SUN sim card. Many of Cebuanos use SUN as they are able to do longer calls to a lower expense.

* If you are dependent on Internet, then I recommend getting the SMART sim card with LTE. I have fair amount of data signal almost everywhere in Cebu.  You might have issues high mountains and rural areas, so far SMART has most coverage on my experience. Around 1 USD or 50 PHP you can have nice data for 3 days.  If you want a little bit extreme go for 6 USD or 300 PHP  for 1 Month.
